People smuggling psychotropic substances from Iran to Azerbaijan were detained.
Resident of Absheron region Mars Samadzade and resident of Kurdamir region Sadig Abbasov were detained as a result of operational search measures taken by members of the department for combating organized crime. They transported 54,000 600 tablets of psychotropic drugs Diozepam, Penobarbital and other drugs with similar effects from Iran to Azerbaijan through the company Avrasia Cargo, the press service of the Interior Ministry said.
The criminal case was filed under Article 206 (smuggling) and 234 (illegal manufacturing, production, acquisition, storage, transport, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or precursors) of the Criminal Code.
