RIA Novosti hosted a round table on the celebration of Novruz Holiday as an international holiday, intercultural dialogue in the OSCE territory. During the event, the advisor of the embassy of Kazakhstan chairing the OSCE, Shamil Stenkulov, who congratulated the participants on the upcoming holiday, said that this celebration reinforces the unity of cultures and traditions.
"Kazakhstan is a very tolerant country where the holidays of different religious confessions are celebrated with joy. It is very important now that the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on conferring the status of international day to Novruz, this holiday will be celebrated throughout the world," he said.
According Stenkulov, today the principles for promotion of tolerance, which is a cornerstone in the policy of Kazakhstan, are important. According to press secretary of the embassy of Russia in Azerbaijan Angela Matieva, the Russian side is pleased that the UN General Assembly declared March 21 the day of Novruz.
