Turkmenistan and Tajikistan's Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov and Emomali Rakhmon in a joint statement stressed the importance of strengthening the peace and stability in Afghanistan.
"For these purposes, it is necessary to coordinate assistance from the international community in strengthening security and law and order, post-conflict restoration of Afghanistan's economy, as well as humanitarian assistance to the people of this country," said in the document signed within Turkmen President's visit to Dushanbe.
The document also says that the two countries attach special importance to strengthening the UN role in solving global and strategic issues of international security and sustainable development.
In this regard, Dushanbe expressed its support for holding international conference on problems of disarmament in the region of Central Asia and the Caspian Basin by Turkmenistan in 2010.
Besides, the presidents expressed their support to efforts by the international community in combating terrorism, drug trafficking, extremism threats to regional and international security and emphasize the need to further expansion of cooperation in this regard.
The joint statement also says that "rational use of water and energy resources serves to regional interests and aims at strengthening cooperation, sustainable development and improving living level of the population in Central Asia".
The sides agreed to exchange Culture Days.
Emomali Rakhmon received Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's invitation to visit Turkmenistan.
The invitation was accepted with great gratitude. The date of the visit will be coordinated through diplomatic circles.
