Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will participate in a summit on nuclear safety in the United States April 12-13, Georgian Presidential Press Secretary Manana Manjgaladze said at a briefing today.

"The Georgian president received an invitation from his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama to attend the summit in Washington and he accepted," she said.

Several informal meetings between the Georgian leader and participants are scheduled for the summit, Manjgaladze said. The leaders of 30 countries are among them.

"A meeting with the U.S. president is also possible, although preparations for this meeting are not being conducted," Manjgaladze said.
