Senate (upper house of parliament) of Uzbekistan re-elected Sayer Rashidov the Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman).
The resolution of the Senate to re-elect the ombudsman was published in the official press of the country.

Uzbekistan, for the first in Central Asia, has established a system of Commissioner for Human Rights, which has been operating in the country for 15 years.

Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights is elected by Parliament for a term of five years. Candidature for the post of Ombudsman is submitted to the Parliament by the President.

Unchallenged ombudsman at all this time is the member of the Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Sayer Rashidov.
