Georgia, Tbilisi, May 10 / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /

Solidarity with Illegal Detainees leader Eka Beselia has told the government that the perpetrators of the May 6 incidents must be brought to justice.

The movement submitted an appeal to the General Prosecutor's Office today, Beselia said at a news conference. The appeal demands an investigation into the beating of demonstrators May 6.

Beselia said several people, including Kaha Berishvili, Kakha Kamladze, Tengiz Mazmishvili, Bidzina Gegidze and Gaga Gachechiladze, were beaten during the forceful dispersal of a rally.

"Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili gave an order on the forceful dispersal of a peaceful rally. This action should be punished under the Penal Code. The police have shown cruel treatment toward citizens. We demand an investigation and bringing Merabishvili and others to justice," Beseli said.

The movement also handed over the medical records of the victims.
