After the counting of votes at 451 of 774 polling stations for the mayoral election, acting mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava is a leader, the CEC Chairman Zurab Kharatishvili said at a briefing.
Candidate of the ruling United National Movement Gigi Ugulava got 53,3 percent of votes. Leader of the Alliance for Georgia Irakli Alasania got 19,91 percent, candidate of Christian-Democratic Movement Gia Chanturia - 10.99 percent, candidate of the National Council Zviad Dzidziguri - 8,75 percent, candidate of Industrialists Gogi Topadze - 5,47 percent, candidate of the movement "Solidarity" Tamaz Vashadze 0,66 percent, candidate of "people's democracy" Nika Ivanishvili 0,55 percent, candidate of "Democratic Party" David Yakobidze 0,22 percent and candidate of the Party of the Future Giorgi Lagidze - 0,14 percent .
Kharatishvili said that 457,851 voters participated in mayoral elections in Tbilisi. "It is necessary to note the increased activity of the population, because 307,000 people took part in the local elections in 2006," he said.
