Trend Commentator: Value of 'Freedom Flotilla'

A new, even more serious crisis besides Davos crisis appeared between Israel and Turkey.

Thus, as a result of an attack on "freedom flotilla", defenders, most of whom were Turkish citizens, as well as Arabs, became victims of an armed incident.

It should be noted that the "freedom flotilla" was organized by Greece, Iceland, Jordan, Kuwait, Turkey and several other European countries. They headed for the Gaza Strip through international waters. The Gaza strip became a symbol of struggle against tyranny and oppression in the Islamic world.

The Israeli navy's actions towards peaceful humanitarian action evoked protests of world public opinion and political circles. Naturally, official Ankara made a strong protest. Frequent disputes and reconciliation with Turkey became almost traditional for Israel. The protest of Ankara was expected for it, but Greece's protest was an unpleasant surprise for Israel.

After the abolition of all military exercises with Ankara, there was enough Greek air space for Tel Aviv, which turned into a test site of Israeli unmanned aircrafts. But now the military exercises of Athens and Tel Aviv are "completed".

Of course, official Tel Aviv did not keep silent on current events. On the contrary, assistant of Israeli Foreign Minister Daniel Ayalon, who recently became the protagonist of the Israeli-Turkish "embassy" crisis, said that there were terrorists on board trying to justify Israel's actions. Ayalon said that it was a necessary step of Israeli naval forces. It was made to eliminate the "corridor of weapons," the realization of which could be possible in future.

The most interesting is that the Foreign Ministry official said that the Gaza Strip, located in the blockade, does not need humanitarian assistance. Any assistance should be provided from the territory of Israel.

However, there are several little-known facts amid this statement, namely, sale of all humanitarian supplies sent by humanitarian organizations on the market of the eastern bank of the Jordan River, controlled by Mahmoud Abbas.

The mission of "freedom flotilla" remained incomplete. The event is not reversed.

And although the Israeli action was unexpected, the same day another event occurred in Turkey, which aimed to shake the independence and military might of the country. Turkish army suffered losses for the first time in the history of the country as a result of a terrorist attack of Kurdistan Workers' Party on a war ship in Iskenderum.

Despite the fact that many politicians in Turkey have come to the opinon, that there is no connection between the attack on "freedom flotilla" and events in Iskenderum. This is just a coincidence. But it is becoming apparent that no accident happens in Turkey which is a target on many political issues.

Many moments give ground to assume that Turkish soldiers were killed in Iskenderum to distract Turkey from the issue of attacks on "freedom flotilla".

Despite the fact that the attack on "freedom flotilla" and the whole Arab-Israeli conflict is not religious, it is noted that all of these are ethnic issues. Both Arab and Jewish sides look at the conflict not in terms of ethnic or national, and in terms of religious confrontation.

Israel realizes this factor well. It has rich experience in this conflict. It wished to warn the world, and in particular the "Green Belt" amid current events. It was a warning that one can not play with the fate of Israel.

Of course, Israel is well aware that by forcing the ships to surrender this way, it will cause the protest of the world community. It will reduce the authority of the country. Israel, however, for the sake of its future destiny and status was able to transcend the view of the world community and its credibility.

And although the actions against "freedom flotilla" seem to be successful to Israel, they are also evaluated by Hamas. By disregarding the regulations of international organizations, Israel will lose its political weight as a state.

The attack on "freedom flotilla" will impact both on the Turkish-Israeli relations and the domestic politics of Ankara.

Perhaps, the opposition in the country waits for actions from the "conqueror of Davos" Prime Minister Erdogan. Whatever were these actions, the opposition will accuse the government. If the Erdogan government makes only a statement towards Israel, it will lose significant number of votes in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

I wonder, whether Turkey and the new Ottomans, who are trying to prove that they are the superpowers in the region will use their Cypriot practices against Israel to further strengthen their positions? Most likely, this will not happen. State Minister Bulent Arinc, speaking on recent events, said that his country will not impose warships in international waters.

There is one serious moment amid the events with the "freedom flotilla", is the deaths of Turks and Arabs for the sake of Gaza.

This incident will surely become even more serious factor in rallying of all those whose worldview is focused on Islam against Israel.
