PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu has been named as "Politician of the Year" by Turkey's Association of European Journalists, PACE said.
He received the award from the Chairman of the Association Adnan Fisenk at a ceremony in Istanbul.
Cavusoglu, a founding member of the AK Party and Member of Parliament for Antalya since 2002, was elected President of PACE in January.
Earlier, he worked in the committee on monitoring countries' obligations before the Council of Europe and in the legal committee, was the rapporteur on the famine issue in Ukraine in 1930s. Turkey heads the organizations for the first time during over 50 years of history of the organization. Since 2003 Cavushoglu is a member of the Assembly, as well as member of the group "European Democrats."
