Azerbaijan President offers Independence Day greetings to US counterpart

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter of congratulation to US leader Barack Obama on the country`s Independence Day, State News Agency AzerTAc reported.

In his letter, the Azerbaijani leader praised the relations between the two countries, saying they had reached the level of partnership.

"Joint efforts towards ensuring energy security, fighting against global threats and challenges and strengthening regional stability are among key priorities of our cooperation."

President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence the two countries would continue efforts to strengthen "our friendly relations" and deepen "our bilateral cooperation both on the bilateral format and within international organizations".

The President also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying his country pinned great hopes on efforts of the United States, as an OSCE Minsk Group co-chair, for peaceful, soonest, just and international legal norms-based settlement of the conflict.

President Ilham Aliyev wished Barack Obama robust health and successes in his activities, and the people of the United States peace and prosperity.
