Musavat party leadership: Fictitious opposition remains in Azerbaijan due to false statements

Azerbaijan, Baku, July 7 / Trend T. Hajiyev /

Azerbaijani opposition Musavat party has accused fictitious opposition of a campaign against the party.

"There are some fictitious opposition forces, which remain due to false allegations against the Musavat Party and its leadership. But I do not think that statements of such people may be harmful to the credibility of our Party. Azerbaijani society knows these people," head of the central office of the Musavat Party, Arif Hajili said.

Recently, several opposition press bodies got a lot of information about the differences in the block Azadliq, the possibility of the collapse of the bloc. Some opposition leaders accuse the Musavat Party of destructive activity.

Azadliq bloc is represented by three opposition parties: the Party of Popular Front of Azerbaijan, Liberal Party of Azerbaijan and the Citizens and Development Party.

He said that Musavat party has no rivals in the opposition camp. We are not going to compete with anybody.

Regarding the tense situation in Azadliq bloc, Hajili said it was an internal affair of the bloc.  Musavat has never acted with the specific claims in this bloc.

"If the situation calms down within a bloc or if it was tense, we will not interfere," Hajili said.

Musavat Party was established in October 1911 in Baku.

Musavat Party and several small parties declared the independence of Azerbaijan May 28, 1918 in Tiflis.

In 1920, after the occupation of Azerbaijan by the Red Army, "Musavat" ceased its activity.

The third restoration congress of the Musavat Party was held November 7, 1992 at the Palace "Republic" in Baku. Isa Gambar was elected chairman by majority of votes.
