Tbilisi City Court Judge George Arveladze sentenced this week ex-Georgian President Zviad Gamsakhurdia's son Tsotne to two-months pretrial detention on new charges. The judge granted the request of the Corrections, Probation and Legal Issues Ministry's Investigative Department.

Tsotne's lawyer Kety Bekauri said the accused did not attend the hearing. She added that he was earlier presented with a document to participate in the hearing, which he refused to undersign.

Bekauri said they will appeal on the court's decision.

Earlier Gamsakhurdia was sentenced to nine years in prison for attempted murder.
