Italian FM postpones visit to Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug.31 / Trend, S.Agayeva /
Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini has postponed his visit to Azerbaijan scheduled for Sept. 7, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Italy Emil Karimov told Trend today.
The visit was postponed due to an emergency situation in the Italian parliament.
The Italian ruling party lost its parliamentary majority in late July after Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's seniormost ally, Italian Chamber of Deputies President Gianfranco Fini, 34 MPs and 11 senators left the People of Freedom Party for the newly formed Future and Freedom group. The country is preparing for snap parliamentary elections.
Frattini intended to visit to Azerbaijan upon the invitation of his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov. The sides were to discss political and economic cooperation.
