The Turkmen Interior Ministry and National Security Ministry held joint operational activities in the countries Balkan and Lebap provinces to neutralize a criminal group engaged in transporting and selling drugs, the Turkmen national television channel Altin Asir reported.
"Thanks to skillful operational activities taken by these ministries' employees a group of criminal persons have been identified and detained. The officers seized several kilograms of raw opium, large amounts of money in foreign and local currencies, as well as numerous cars and trucks of various brands and much more acquired through sale of drugs," the source reported.
The entire society should show strong opposition to this dangerous social evil, President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov stressed at the Security Council's meeting.
Berdimuhammedov noted the need for increasing propaganda and educational work, especially among the younger generation, to be held in conjunction with public organizations participating in the nationwide movement Galkinish.
"Our ancestors disapproved addicts and those who engaged in drug trafficking, as they knew that this dangerous potion causes great harm, especially to the youth and the gene pool of the nation as a whole. Today, those involved in drug trafficking, should be the subject of universal condemnation," he said.
Berdimuhammedov said "those who ply the drug trade have no conscience, no honor, and they have no place among us ... neither indulgence no forgiveness will ever be for these dealers".
The Turkmen leader also drew attention to the fact that to counter this negative phenomenon, which is subject to the concerns of all humanity, will be further paid a special attention to strengthening the material base of the Turkmen State Service to combat drug, including its provision of the latest specialist equipment.
