Azerbaijan, Baku, September 7 /Trend, T.Hajiyev /

Some people predict a small number of votes that voters will give to candidates from the opposition because of the fact that a single election bloc for the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan has not been created.

"As the opposition goes to the elections in different blocs, the choice of the voters will be broken up," co-founder of the bloc "For people", chairman of Citizen and Development Party (CDP) Ali Aliyev told Trend on Sept. 7.

According to him, to participate in elections as part of separate blocs is not an ideal option for the opposition.

"But this is reality, nothing can be done. We in early year stated that it may be desirable to jointly participate in elections, but this did not happen. Unfortunately, in some cases, this occurred for subjective reasons," said Aliyev.
According to Aliyev, receiving one fifth of all seats at the parliament and establishing opposition factions may be regarded as the most successful event.

There will not be the fragmentation of votes in the parliamentary elections, co-founder of the bloc "Karabakh", chairman of the Umid Party Iqbal Aghazadeh told Trend.

"Usually, two people fight in each district. The third one is always weaker than the first two. In majority system, everyone participates in the process individually. Who better shows himself, he will gain votes," said Aghazadeh.
According to chairman of the party, the opposition's participation in elections not as a united front would have a negative impact on voter turnout.

"I believe that we can speak only about reduction of voter turnout. It could happen. If the opposition would unite, the voter turnout would be 50-55 percent, maybe slightly more. But if there is no unified opposition, voter turnout will be 25-30 and 32 percent," said Aghazadeh.

Chairman of Civil Solidarity Party, co-founder of the election bloc "Democracy" Sabir Rustamkhanli said that the process has not yet completed, several already existing blocs may unify.

"The process of creating blocs continues. And now intensive negotiations are conducted. It may be created by unifying with another bloc. Most important is that the opposition blocs would not fight with each other in elections. Agreement can be reached with some blocs. The main fact is that the purpose and intentions would be united," said Rustamkhanli.

The success of the elections is not connected with the blocs, but with the personal qualities and the promotion of the candidates, said the chairman of the Justice Party, co-founder of the election bloc "Transformation" Ilyas Ismayilov.

"Building blocs of separate parties is a positive case. And with regards to the united front of all opposition, this is impossible. This is ideal, but it is never achieved," said Ismayilov.

The real opposition forces are already together, said Sulhaddin Akbar, deputy chairman of the Musavat Party, which is one of the founders of the election bloc Musavat-Popular Front Party to be announced soon.
"The real opposition in Azerbaijan is the Musavat Party and the Popular Front Party. Tomorrow the two parties will have meetings. It is planned to decide on the establishment of the bloc," said Akbar.
