The United Nations Development Programme's international consultant, Ms. Anita Dudina, one of the "architects" of the administrative system of the Latvian Parliament, who undertook a number of international assignments in support to the National Assembly of Armenia, the Moldavian and Georgian parliaments, is visiting Turkmenistan to support parliamentary development efforts at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, UNDP reported.
Dudina met with Rector of the Civil Service Academy (CSA) of Turkmenistan, Mr. Alym Annamuradov, and other senior lecturers of the CSA to discuss prospects of UNDP engagement in increasing knowledge of the Academy students about the international and national parliamentary processes.
They also discussed prospects of courses for Turkmen MPs on the basics of parliamentary. In addition, there was discussed a possibility of UNDP support to the CSA in areas such as European law, strengthening research services of the Academy, studying experience of other parliaments, searching for non-traditional ways of provision of information for targeted groups such as youth, parliamentarians and civil servants, developing research skills of students of the Academy through comparative analysis of different systems and countries and so on.
Through the lecture students of the CSA were also exposed to the forms and methods of inter-parliamentary cooperation, institutional development of parliaments, efficient practices and procedures of the legislative work, participation of parliamentarians in the socio - political life and legal education of civil society.
UNDP plans to continue drawing on the relevant international expertise and advice on both general and specific issues related to the legislation processes and exposing the Mejlis of Turkmenistan to the good practices and dynamics of the parliamentary processes in other countries.
