Azerbaijan needs to prepare a draft culture law, chairman of the parliamentary committee on culture, Nizami Jafarov, said on Friday at the meeting of the committee.
"Azerbaijan has adopted a law in this regard more than ten years ago, and today some of the provisions of the law do not meet the requirements of the day," said Jafarov.
Jafarov said if the law is improved, there will be no need to adopt other laws in this area. He said that the concept of "producer" and certain provisions relating to the creative people should be added to the new law.
The meeting of the committee on culture also discussed additions and changes to the "Law on Copyright and Related Rights." Particular attention was paid to discussing the issue of removing the term "plagiarism" from the existing culture law because the copyright law covers this offense.
"Due to the fact that the Law on Copyright suppresses any plagiarism, there is no need to leave the term in the law," committee member Rafael Huseynov said.
