The trial against the Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, the son of Georgia's first president, will continue today at the Tbilisi Court of Appeals.
The trial is in the pleading stage.
The defendant plans to attend. His lawyers have asked the judge to complete the trial on the same day that he attends.
Gamsakhurdia was sentenced to 9.5 years in prison in April for assaulting his neighbor, David Badzhelidze, who was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the stomach.
