The U.S. Energy Department's National Department on Nuclear Safety is holding a training course this week on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and methods of recognizing weapons of mass destruction in Ashgabat.
The Turkmen State Customs Service and State Border Service are attending.
The training is being conducted by experts from the U.S. Energy Department's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and specialists from Russia, Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic.
Participants will acquire skills in the visual recognition of materials and objects that can be used in the manufacturing of weapons of mass destruction.
In addition, the course will help strengthen the role of departments in executing control over exports, preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction by creating effective communications between organizations, licensing and technical functions.
During the training, participants will also learn how to inspect cargo, and detect, identify and prevent smuggling.
