The Georgian sappers will today begin the search of mines left by the Russian troops in the Perevi village in the Sachkhere region bordering South Ossetia.

The Georgian sappers will today begin the search of mines left by the Russian troops in the Perevi village in the Sachkhere region bordering South Ossetia.

The sappers will examine the entire territory, Georgian Interior Ministry's information and analysis department head Shota Utiashvili said.

"This is a common precaution is to be carried out," he said.

Police and observers of the European Union are also in the village. The Perevi village is located on border of the Java  region of South Ossetia and the Sachkhere region of Georgia.

Earlier, Russian media reported about the withdrawal of the Russian troops from the Perevi region.  Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin stated about this while commenting on the results of the next round of the Geneva talks on security and stability in Transcaucasia.
