Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov signed a decree to appoint Gurbangulu Baradov the head of Kopetdag district of Ashgabat - central part of the capital.
Former head Amanmurad Aydogdiev was recently dismissed "for serious shortcomings in his work".
Baradov earlier headed Niyazov district administration.
