The employees of the State Customs Committee detained an Iranian citizen, who smuggled a large amount of heroin from Iran to Azerbaijan.

The employyes of the operational control office of the main department to combat crimes in the customs detained an Iranian citizen in the village of Boykhanli in Jalilabad region, who smuggled drugs to Azerbaijan for sale, the State Customs Committee told Trend today. Other members of the group showed armed resistance and were able to escape from the scene.

Shahriyar Fadakar Kalansar Bahram had 7,090 grams of drugs. He carried drugs across the border in his black rucksack without going through customs control. This amount was seized.

The criminal case was filed under articles 206.3.2, 234.4.1 and 234.4 .3 (smuggling on preliminary arrangement by group of persons; illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances on preliminary arrangement by group of persons or organized group and in large amount).

It was revealed as a result of the preliminary investigation that Shahriyar Fadakar Kalansar Bahram joined criminals whose names have not been determined yet. He also bought about 7,090 grams of heroin in the Iranian city of Germish to resell it.

He is charged under articles 206.3.2, 234.4.1 and 234.4.3.

Shahriyar Fadakar Kalansar Bahram was arrested as a preventive measure for 3 months upon the Yasamal District Court's decision dated October 29.

The investigatory actions are underway to identify and prosecute other members of criminal groups.
