Azerbaijani first lady receives largest percentage of votes among MP candidates

Azerbaijani First Lady, Heydar Aliyev Foundation President, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva received the largest percentage of votes among all of the MP candidates during the recent parliamentary elections.
According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), Khazar Second Election District No. 14 candidate Mehriban Aliyeva received 94.49 percent of the votes. Roughly 31,797 of 34,152 voters in this constituency voted for the Azerbaijani first lady.
The voter turnout in the Fourteenth Constituency was 78.21 percent. About 359 local observers, as well as OSCE, PACE and CIS mission representatives, monitored the voting process.
Aliyeva's candidacy was nominated by the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.
Voters have once again expressed confidence in the first lady. About 91.97 percent of voters chose Aliyeva in the same district in 2005.
