Poland remains Georgia's principle ally on its path to joining NATO, Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski said in Warsaw at a meeting with Georgian Parliamentary Speaker David Bakradze today.

Bakradze is attending a NATO Parliamentary Assembly meeting, which began last Friday and ends today in Warsaw.

During the meeting, Komorowski said his country will support the Georgian issue at the NATO summit in Lisbon.

The Lisbon summit will be held on Nov. 19-20 and review NATO's strategy toward Georgia, as well as the Bucharest summit's document dated April 2008. The summit decided that Georgia, along with Ukraine, has chances to join NATO after completing the necessary requirements.

Bakradze also held meetings in Warsaw with the heads of the upper and lower houses of the Polish parliament and discussed issues of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation.
