Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan Abulfaz Garayev, who arrived in Jordan to participate in the Azerbaijani Culture Days, has held several meetings, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Amman said.
On Tuesday Garayev met with the Tourism and Antiquities minister of Jordan Zaid Goussous. The sides discussed prospects of cooperation in tourism and expressed confidence that negotiations on the resumption of direct flights between Baku and Amman would succeed. Garayev invited Jordanian travel agencies to participate in tourism exhibitions in Baku.
On the same day Garayev met the Jordanian Culture Minister Nabih Shuqum. The ministers discussed the current state of cultural relations between the two countries, the development of three-year program of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Jordan, as well as future projects. Garayev invited his Jordanian counterpart to take part in the Forum on intercultural dialogue to be held in Baku in April next year. Then the two ministers attended the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding between the National Library of Jordan and the Akhundov National Library.
After that, Abulfaz Garayev and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Jordan Elman Arasli were received by the brother of King Abdullah II, Prince Hashim bin Al-Hussein. During the meeting, Garayev handed to Prince Hashim a letter from President Ilham Aliyev to the King of Jordan. Prince Hashim said that the King was interested in developing cooperation between the two countries.
On the same day the Azerbaijani Culture Days were inaugurated at the Jordan's Royal Cultural Center. The Culture Ministers of both countries made opening speeches at the event.
On Wednesday, Abulfaz Garayev and Elman Arasli held a press conference with local media in Azerbaijani embassy in Amman.
