Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 7 /Trend/

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Mexico Ilgar Mukhtarov paid a working visit to Uruguay this week, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Mexico City told Trend today.

During the visit, Mukhtarov met with Uruguayan Foreign Ministry Secretary General Nelson Yemil Shaben and Uruguayan Diplomatic Academy Director Alvaro Moerzinger.

During his meeting with Shaben, Mukhtarov passed a letter from Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov to his Uruguayan counterpart Luis Leonardo Almagro Lemes. The parties also agreed to hold ministerial consultations in Baku next year in the framework of a cooperation agreement signed between the two foreign ministries.

Mukhtarov also informed Shaben about Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan and the ongoing process of negotiation. Shaben said his country has always been a supporter of compliance with international law, including territorial integrity and inviolability of state borders. He cited Uruguay's non-recognition of the independence of Kosovo as an example.

The sides discussed bilateral relations and international and regional issues.

The Mukhtarov-Moerzinger meeting also reviewed prospects of cooperation for exchanging the experiences of diplomatic academy representatives and holding joint training courses.
