Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Dec.9 / Trend, H.Hasanov /
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov received newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Sunil Jain this week.
Jain presented his credentials to the government.
The ambassador conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the occasion of the upcoming fifteenth anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality, which is celebrated on Dec. 12.
"India appreciates and supports Turkmenistan's peace policy," he said, "as well as the international initiatives put forward by the Turkmen leader to consolidate the bases of peace, stability and common prosperity."
At the meeting, the sides exchanged their views on major aspects of bilateral cooperation "built on a long-term, mutually beneficial basis."
They also stressed the "particular significance of the project to construct the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline."
"India attaches particular significance to developing full-scale cooperation with Turkmenistan," Jain said, noting that Berdimuhammadov gave an impetus to strengthening relations with India during his official visit to the country in May.
