Mohammad Udvan, Press Secretary of the Ramallah office of Fatah ruling in Palestine, does not exclude the possibility of Israeli attack on Gaza and a new war.
"Sooner or later, Israel will again attack the Gaza Strip. A new large-scale war will begin in the region," Udvan told Trend over phone from Ramallah.
During the week, Israeli Air Force carried out several air raids on the Gaza Strip. Five members of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas were killed. The Palestinian resistance forces opened return fire from mortars, Al Jazeera TV channel reported.
Udvan said that the leadership of the administration hopes for Egypt to avoid loss of civilian Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
"The new war in the region will lead to serious losses of the Palestinian side.
We hope for opening Rafah checkpoint from Egypt to avoid civilian casualties," he said.
The Israeli army conducted a military operation Cast Lead in late December 2008, which killed 1,400 citizens of the Palestinian enclave and 13 Israelis.
