President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev telephoned to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on December 24, AzerTAj state news agency reported.
President Medvedev congratulated the Azerbaijani counterpart on his birthday and wished him new successes and good health during the presidency.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked Dmitry Medvedev for congratulations.
The Heads of States described development of bilateral relations between the two countries in 2010 as successful and expressed assurance that relationship would continue to expand.
Russian President Medvedev also sent a letter of felicitation to President Ilham Aliyev on December 18.
"During your presidency, many rightly link your activity with new successes of Azerbaijan - modern and dynamically developing state. Serious economic and social achievements of your country, its steadily increasing influence in the international arena are worthy of high assessment. I hail friendly personal relations between us. Your determination to expand Russia-Azerbaijan strategic partnership assist in all aspects to strengthen friendship and good neighborhood traditions and dynamically develop multifaceted cooperation between our states," the letter says:
President Medvedev is also sure that continuation of active relations between Russia and Azerbaijan will not only serve interests of our countries and peoples but also promote strengthening of stability and security in the Caucasus.
