Functionaries of the Azerbaijani opposition Musavat Party Gabil Huseynli and Adil Geybulla have decided not to disclose the reasons for leaving the party, pleading ethical concerns.
Huseynli and Geybulla today have officially announced the resignation from the party and issued a joint statement on the matter.
"Despite the retirement from the party, we intend to continue to adhere to the ideology of the Musavat Party and ideas of Mammad Emin Rasulzade," - says the statement.
Geybulla and Huseynli intend to create a socio-political structure called "Heritage of Musavat and modernity" and to continue their activities in this structure.
Musavat party regreted the decision of functionaries.
"The resignation of two functionaries from the party leadership is definitely a loss for Musavat. I think the party is in the process of renewal, and we will try so that functionaries who have left the party would be replaced by those who had long been members of the party and has stable political beliefs", the head of the central executive body of the party Arif Hajili told Trend,.
Earlier, the chairman of the party's Majlis (Congress) Sulhaddin Akbar and a member of the Divan (Executive Board) Ibrahim Ibrahimli left Musavat.
Huseynli served as deputy of the party's head and Geybulla was a member of the Divan.
