Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will visit Uzbekistan this year, Turkmen ambassador to Uzbekistan, Soltan Pirmukhamedov, said at a briefing.
He did not mention the specific date of the visit.
He said that all the arrangements for the visit have been agreed upon and confirmed by the parties. The optimal time is being specified.
"I think that this event will happen soon," he said.
He also said that the seventh regular meeting of the Uzbek-Turkmen intergovernmental commission will be held in Tashkent in late January.
The agenda will include a wide range of issues of political, economic and humanitarian cooperation.
"We cherish the friendship with Uzbekistan. We intend to develop good-neighborly mutually beneficial cooperation ", ambassador said.
According to the Turkmen side, the bilateral trade turnover increased by 42 percent - up to $222.8 million in January - November 2010.
The exports from Turkmenistan amounted to 119.5 million. Uzbekistan imported goods and services to the amount of $103.5 million.
