Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Spyros Kouvelis will visit Azerbaijan in February.

The governmental delegations of Azerbaijan and Greece will consider the prospects for trade and economic cooperation within the third meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, scheduled for February 2-3 in Baku, the Greek Embassy in Baku told Trend.

A governmental delegation headed by Greek Deputy Foreign Minister, Spyros Kouvelis, will arrive in Baku to participate in the meeting. He is a co-chairman from the Greek side, the embassy said.

"Both sides are working now to agree on the text of the protocol to be signed on its completion," the embassy said.

The parties intend to strengthen the legal base of bilateral cooperation, consisting of 15 agreements today, Azerbaijani ambassador to Greece Rahman Mustafayev told Trend earlier.

The Greek and Azerbaijani sides are considering more than 10 new projects of the inter-ministerial agreements.

The parties are also working on another very important document - the draft programme of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece in the fields of science, education and culture for 2010-2012, he said.

He said that the Azerbaijani side has presented its proposals to the Greek side. It waits for the proposals on this project now. Signing this document will allow the parties to consider the specific cooperation projects in these areas.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, the trade turnover between the two countries totaled $15.9 million in January-October 2010.
