Azerbaijan`s first lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva has visited Monday "Saule" Social Development Center in Riga, AzerTAj State News Agency reported.
Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva was informed that the purpose of this non-governmental organization established by international donors in 1995 was to assist mentally retarded people in integrating into society.
Handicrafts of people that the center cares about are demonstrated in international exhibitions. The organization also closely participates in civil society building.
Azerbaijan`s first lady was informed about various charitable projects realized by the center.
Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva familiarized herself with center and saw handicrafts here.
Then, the first lady watched concert performed by members of the center.
Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva and first lady of Latvia Lilita Zatlere posed for photographs together with members of the center.
First ladies of Azerbaijan and Latvia were presented keepsakes.
Notebooks were donated to the "Saule" Social Development Center on behalf of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
