Neutral Turkmenistan will strengthen country's defense due to the most advanced military equipment and weapons, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said in a message.
Message from the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief is timed to the 19th anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan and the Day of Defenders of the Motherland.
The text reads that "in accordance with the military doctrine of neutral Turkmenistan that takes a purely defensive character, aimed at further strengthening the defense capability of the national army, we will systematically strengthen its logistical base at the expense of the most advanced military equipment and weapons."
The Head of State also stressed that the defenders of the motherland should always be an example of patriotism, physical and spiritual health, broad-minded, high spirit.
"The Turkmen state will continue to carry out systematic work on augmentation of reliable protection of homeland and strengthening its combat power, improving conditions of service and life of soldiers."
Turkmenistan recently put into operation a complex of buildings of the military institution and a Naval Institute was created. In 2009, Caspian littoral Turkmenistan started implementing the concept of protection of the country's maritime borders, starting with the opening of a new customs post 'Garabogaz', equipped with the latest technology, on the border with Kazakhstan.
As reported by local media outlets, 'Garabogaz' has a special technique for accurately detecting drugs and explosives in hand luggage. Equipment installed here provides an opportunity to check baggage of thousands of people every day.
