Kazakh and Russian plants specializing in manufacturing and repairing military armor plan to develop Kazakh-Russian relations in the military sector, the Kazakh Liter newspaper reported, citing Russia's Ambassador to Kazakhstan Mikhail Bocharnikov.
Bocharnikov recently visited the only Central Asian plant for overhauling and upgrading armored vehicles in the Kazakh city of Semipalatinsk.
"I was interested in getting acquainted with the industrial base of the plant, working mainly with armored vehicles manufactured by Russian plants. I wanted to speak with the company management on opportunities for cooperation, which certainly exist," Bocharnikov said.
The company was built in 1986 for the needs of the Central Asian Military District. The entire repair process takes place under one roof, which allows considerable savings on transportation technology at the 17-hectare factory.
