Kazakh Ambassador Dulat Kuanyshev has presented his credentials to President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapaksa in Colombo, the Kazakh foreign ministry reported.
During the ceremony, the sides noted the factor of mutual respect and stability both in Kazakhstan and in Sri Lanka, and underlined the importance and value of peace, interethnic and inter-religious harmony.
Kuanyshev also met with Sri Lanka's Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa. The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation.
"During the meeting, the Kazakh diplomat noted that the opening of direct flights between Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka will open broad prospects for developing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries," the report reads.
