Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received newly appointed South Korean Ambassador to Turkmenistan An Myung, the Altyn Asyr national TV channel reported.
The diplomat conveyed greetings from Korean President Lee Myung-bak. He expressed his best wishes to the head of state and the Turkmen people.
"Korea attached great importance to strengthening cooperation with Turkmenistan, which conducts a constructive domestic and foreign policy and has a high rate of socioeconomic development," the ambassador said.
Berdimuhamedov stressed the traditionally friendly Turkmen-Korean relations, which have taken on a "new quality and content."
The ambassador also stressed the immense interest among South Korean business circles in further strengthening cooperation with Turkmenistan.
A number of major South Korean companies successfully operate in Turkmenistan.
LG International and Hundai Engineering are developing the Southern Yoloten Field's hydrocarbon deposits in Turkmenistan.
Southern Yoloten has natural gas reserves estimated at 21-22 trillion cubic meters.
