Belarusian president thanks Azerbaijani diplomat for productive activity

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has praised Azerbaijani Ambassador Ali Nagiyev's contribution to the development of the countries' mutual cooperation, BELTA informed.
"Your stay in Belarus as the Azerbaijani ambassador has been very productive in terms of establishing trade and economic relations, as well as creating joint ventures in Azerbaijan," Lukashenko at the meeting with Nagiyev.
Lukashenko stressed Azerbaijan's important role and assistance in the difficult moments of Belarus. "I thank you for the warmth that you have made in the development of our bilateral cooperation. I want to assure you and ask you to convey this to my friend, President Ilham Aliyev, that we as ever will make every effort to ensure that our relations have been exemplary. You can be sure of this. As you know we do not have closed matters. We will move on in this direction," he stressed.

Lukashenko thanked Nagiyev for his work in Belarus.

Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Azerbaijan were established in 1993.Both countries opened embassies in Minsk and Baku in 2006. Azerbaijan is one of the strategic trade-economic and political partners of Belarus. Baku always supported Belarus in bilateral and multilateral format.

The two leaders met five times over the past five years, including the exchange of official visits in 2006-2007 and 2009-2010.
