Washington marks 88th anniversary of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev

An event to mark the 88th anniversary of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev was organized at "Four Seasons" hotel of US's capital Washington on Tuesday, Azerbaijani Embassy to the U.S. reported.

An event to mark the 88th anniversary of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev was organized at "Four Seasons" hotel of US's capital Washington on Tuesday, Azerbaijani Embassy to the U.S. reported.

The event brought together representatives of Diplomatic Corps operating in Washington, non-governmental organizations, media and Azerbaijani community.

Addressing the event, Azerbaijan's ambassador to the United States Yashar Aliyev said Azerbaijan marking its 20th anniversary of regaining state independence has become the most rapidly developing country in the region. He underlined the great role of Heydar Aliyev in the life of Azerbaijan. Yashar Aliyev highlighted President Ilham Aliyev`s policy, saying he was successfully continuing the course of the national leader.

The Ambassador spotlighted the attention of Heydar Aliyev to strengthening relations between Azerbaijan and US. The cooperation was started with the "Contract of the Century" in 1994 and continued by the visits of national leader to US.

Participants got familiar with photo exhibition reflecting visits of Heydar Aliyev to US.
The event featured demonstration of program "Build It Bigger" of US`s Discovery Channel dedicated to extraordinary architectural projects implemented in Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev Center and Flame Towel complex. "Build it Bigger" is one of the shows Discovery Channel broadcasts in Europe and in US. The program features futuristic and ongoing engineering projects.

Producer and television host Danny Foster said the program made for four months is true way to educate US's spectators about Azerbaijan.
