Ilham Aliyev has today visited Mardakan settlement of Baku`s Khazar district over on-site inspection of what have been done thus far to implement instructions that the Head of State gave with respect to socio-economic development of suburban settlements of Azerbaijan`s capital, Azerbaijani President's official website reported.
Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov briefed the Head of State on the works done in the settlement. The President was told some 16.500 square meters of the roads got a new asphalt cover. Moreover, 19,000 square meters of the area is planned to be paved a new asphalt cover. The Head of State was told gas, water and communication lines in the settlement would be renewed. A modern lighting system will be installed in the settlement, as well. The President was informed that buildings of the school No. 81, infant school and kindergartens № 91 and 221, hospital No.26 and sanatorium for consumptives No.2 will be reconstructed. All facilities will be provided with modern equipments.
Then, President Ilham Aliyev met residents of the settlement .
Welcoming public of the settlement , President Ilham Aliyev said a special program has been developed on the development of the suburban settlements of Baku and comprehensive measures have been outlined. "The program was approved earlier this month and soon the relevant work will be carried out rapidly. Some of the work, including the road construction in the Mardakan village, has already been launched. This work will be of extensive nature. Infrastructure projects are expected to be carried out in all the villages," he said.
Aliyev said the program has been published in the press and everyone can get familiarized with it. Specific instructions have been given for each village, the head of state said. "Regarding the Mardakan settlement, here it is expected to repair schools and kindergartens here. A hospital will be renovated and roads will be laid. A gasification project, as well as water and sanitation projects, is also expected to be addressed. Thus, all socio-economic issues must be resolved in each settlement up to 2013 through the program. I got familiarized with the situation in several villages and listened to the wishes of residents. The program has already been adopted. Of course, we should check, supervise the implementation of this program - as me and you," Ilham Aliyev said.
"I would like the work in the settlements to have been done in a short period of time and high rates, and issues harassing people have been resolved. We are aware of these issues, these problems. So, I decided that a certain state program should be adopted on the development of Baku and its suburban settlements and we did it. All state agencies were instructed to actively work on this, as the requests and wishes of local residents should be considered. We strive to cover all the issues in the program. However, experience shows that sometimes it is impossible. When, the State program on Socio-Economic Development of Regions adopted in 2004, it did not reflect several issues. Therefore, we periodically updated that program," he added.
Now Baku is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, he said. "It is true. We know this and guests visiting Baku also note this. Beautiful parks are built, buildings renovated, new roads and infrastructure constructed in Baku. Baku turned into a really beautiful city of the world level. We should work so that Baku's settlements also differed with their modernity, beauty and purity. All possibilities exist for it. A certain program has been approved. This program will help to address issues raised by you, at the same time it should reflect the improvement of settlements. Road is a comfort and improvement. Painting and restoration of buildings, building fences and planting trees mean improvement. Millions of trees were planted only in 2010. That means health," Aliyev said.
