The presidency in the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) will enhance Kazakhstan's credibility in the Islamic world, President Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
"The presidency in the OIC that unites all Muslims in the world will raise Kazakhstan's prestige in the Islamic world," Nazarbayev said addressing the Fourth World Kurultai of Kazakhs, which opened in Astana on Wednesday. "The presidency in the OIC that has 57 Member States puts an enormous responsibility on us."
Kazakhstan headed the OSCE, the world's largest regional organization dealing with security issues, in 2010. Following the annual presidency, Astana hosted the OSCE summit. Prior to that, the OSCE member states met at the level of Heads of State and Government 11 years ago.
International experts have positively assessed the Astana summit in terms of its organization.
Nazarbayev said the upcoming OIC presidency will be the second vertex, which Kazakhstan will win.
"The Kazakhs did not rise to such a high level throughout its history," he stressed.
