The U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton congratulated the Azerbaijani people on Republic Day, Azerbaijani Embassy in the United States said.
"On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am delighted to congratulate the people of Azerbaijan as you observe Republic Day this May 28. This is a special occasion to honor your rich culture and history and celebrate the significant achievements that Azerbaijan has made since regaining independence twenty years ago," the message says.
Clinton stressed that she was delighted to visit Baku last year. "I was impressed with the dynamism and potential of Azerbaijan and the strength of its people," the congratulatory message says.
"The United States and Azerbaijan have a strong relationship based on mutual interests and respect. We are working together to address a range of global challenges and seize opportunities. We are working to support regional security and stability, enhance energy security and promote even greater economic and political reforms. The United States remains committed to strengthening the partnership between our two countries," the message says.
Clinton sent the people of Azerbaijan her very best wishes for a peaceful and prosperous year to come.
