Deputy Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Giorgi Tsereteli will attend a meeting on the prevention of AIDS, to be held at the UN office in New York on June 8-10.

Thirty years after the beginning of the AIDS epidemic and 10 years after the most important special session of the UN General Assembly, world leaders will gather again to discuss the achieved progress, outline a plan for the future, address problem of stigma and discrimination against HIV-infected persons and the use of technological innovations for prevention and treatment. A declaration will be adopted at the New York meeting.

Tsereteli, President of the European Parliamentary Forum on Population and Development, will head the European Parliamentary Assembly's delegation at the meeting and will deliver a report on the prevention of AIDS in Georgia.
