Azerbaijan, Baku, July 5 / Trend T. Hajiyev /

The parliament will act to open the Armenian-Turkish border only of Armenia liberates the

occupied Azerbaijani lands and abandons its unfounded claims against Turkey, Turkish Grand National Assembly MP Sinan Ogan said.

"The Armenian-Turkish border will be opened only in case of restoring the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan," Ogan said.

He said the Center for International Relations and Strategic Analysis has already done much to protect the interests of Azerbaijan.

"I am in the Turkish Parliament as a representative of 3 million Azerbaijanis living
in the country," he said.

The MP added that his activity in parliament will mostly be to strengthen the relations with

Azerbaijan.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
