More than 1.7 million foreign refugees leave Iran

A total of 1.7 million foreign refugees left Iran while the country prepares measurements for return of 1 million refugees to their countries, Mehr News Agency reported quoting secretary general of foreign nationals and immigrants office in interior ministry Mohammad Hossein Tahouri as saying.

"More than 2.7 million refugees use to live in Iran, currently 1.7 million left the country and while the condition will be ready for return of 1 million refugees," he said.

Iran is among the 10 countries of the world that gives shelter to many refugees and it's refugee camps have good conditions, he added.

Iran gave shelters to foreign nationals whose countries are at war including remarkable number of Afghan refugees and Kuwait nationals.

Iran recorded 1.5 million refugees on last solar year(ended on March20,2011) .
