The ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) believes it is wrong to think that as though the state backs political parties, financing them.
"It is wrong to say that the state backs the political parties, financing them. It only means that the state supports these parties to a certain extent," NAP Executive Secretary Ali Ahmedov said on Monday.
Financing of political parties in the world is most common on the basis of their representation in parliament.
"It is a good form to support the parties in society and for its development, as well as to provide public support in an appropriate manner. There are some nuances that must also be taken into account," said Ahmedov.
The new draft law on political parties could be discussed at the autumn session of the Parliament. The bill addresses the issue of public financing of political parties.
