Sardar Asemi, one of the commanders of Ali-ben-Abitalib headquarters, belonging to Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRCG or Sepah), and five soldiers were killed by a land mine explosion in Sardasht city close to Iranian-Iraqi border, reported Fars News Agency on Friday.

Names of soldiers have been announced: Abbas Asemi, Ali Akbar Jamrasi, Mahmoud Ahmaditabar, Mousavinejad, Mehdi Khabir and Ruhollah Sahraee

Earlier, FNA reported that militants were killed in a fight by the Party for Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) members.

Iran has recently deployed 5,000 military forces in the northwest of the country along its common border with the Iraqi Kurdistan region.

The purpose of the deployment is holding military maneuvers with the aim of stabilizing the border area and fighting counterrevolutionary groups.

Members of the terrorist PJAK group - an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) - regularly engage in armed clashes with Iranian security forces along the country's western borders with Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.
