Azerbaijani Parliament will prepare a draft law "On renewable energy sources", a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology Fuad Muradov told Trend on Thursday.
"The relevant proposals related to the draft law have been already prepared, and work is underway on other proposals," Muradov said.
He said there is no law on alternative and renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan yet.
A visit was paid jointly with representatives of the State Oil Company (SOCAR) to the European countries in August to study alternative energy sources and use of an appropriate legislative framework in this area in practice in Azerbaijan.
Muradov said the meeting with the head of Energy Problems Research Center of Iceland Olafur G. Flovenz discussed the prospects for the development of alternative and renewable energy sources, as well as use of existing legislative framework in this area in practice in Azerbaijan.
"During the visit to a geothermal power station in Iceland, it became clear that as a result of use of new technologies there was no emission to the environment," Muradov said.
Muradov said it is possible to use such practice in Azerbaijan.
