Iran to design aircraft carrier navies
Azerbaijan , Baku, Sept. 28 /Trend D.Khatinoglu/
Iran will design aircraft carrier navies of various classes, IRNA reported on Wednesday quoting deputy head of the Researches and Self-sufficiency Cihad Center of Iranian Navy forces , Mansour Maghsoudolou , as saying.
Construction of new navies and submarines is also on the Iranian navy forces' agenda.
"Iran is constructing Jamaran II navy and will be ready to launch it in the near future," Maghsoudlou said. "We will install progressive phased array radars on it."
Phased Array radar has a unique antenna that collects the same information as a conventional radar in about one-sixth the time.
Jamaran II (Velayat) is highly advanced and differs greatly from the Jamaran, the first destroyer designed and manufactured by Iranian experts.
The Jamaran can carry helicopters and is equipped with torpedoes. The warship is capable of engaging in surface, air, and undersea warfare.
Earlier, Iran's Navy commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said Iranian second domestically manufactured destroyer will join the country's naval fleet in the near future.
