The International Conference on Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking has today kicked off in Baku.
The Head of the Presidential Administration's Law Enforcement Bodies Work Department Fuad Alasgarov read out Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's letter addressed to the conference participants at the opening of the event.
Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the State Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and Illegal Drug Trafficking Ali Hasanov informed the event pariticipants about the work done in combating drug, as well as improvement of legislative framework.
Hasanov stressed that the country registered 25,489 drug addicts and according to the specialists, it is not a real figure.
He also said the territory of the Nagorno Karabakh occupied by Armenia is used for drug transit, drug cultivation and sale, and as an uncontrolled area on transnational crime.
